Climate Governance Global Financial Sector Hub Launched
The Climate Governance Initiative (CGI) has launched a global hub focused on the financial sector.
The Financial Sector Hub has been developed to foster collaboration between CGI Chapters (including Chapter Zero New Zealand) to deliver informative sector-specific webinars to a global audience. The Hub provides support, guidance and exchange opportunities to directors facing requirements of the financial sector which cannot necessarily be met with sector-generic events and content, including climate regulation and the involvement of many central banks and regulators in climate matters.
The financial sector has specific and complex requirements creating both risks and opportunities that can have an outsized influence on how the real economy can and will face-up to the challenge of the climate transition. It’s therefore no surprise that the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) has prioritised the financial sector alongside the energy sector in its effort to drive change.
To support the Hub, the CGI will also be hosting a three-part virtual event series to explore the powerful role financial institutions play in transitioning to a greener economy.
