A new guide - Lessons from the Frontline

Overview

Some boards have been producing voluntary climate disclosures for a number of years, but the climate-related disclosure regime has necessitated a significant uplift for climate-reporting entities (CREs). There are a lot of lessons that have been learned along the way.

A new guide entitled ‘Lessons from the Frontline’ developed in partnership with KPMG and the Institute of Directors NZ as part of the Chapter Zero NZ directors’ climate forum, provides insights to support boards who are wanting to start disclosing and to enhance the processes of existing reporters as they step into year 2 of reporting. While New Zealand legislation currently only requires circa 200 entities to provide climate statements, there is increasing pressure on entities from a range of sources including trading partners, stakeholders, investors and insurers.

In this event we will hear from a panel that includes directors, preparers and users to understand more about the challenges facing reporting entities, what they learned, how they’ll approach the challenge moving forward, and the benefits they’ve identified.

Key themes to be discussed in this session include:

  • Building board and organisational capability and capacity
  • Systems change and resourcing success
  • The role of directors
  • Finding the value

This breakfast is being held prior to the IoD & Chapter Zero Climate Governance Forum, also on Monday 21 October at the Grand Millenium. For further information on this event and to register please click here
